Something not playing right?
Please include your device (Apple TV, iPhone or iPad) and its system version, your xfinn version and your Jellyfin version. Never send your password or an access token.
How do I connect to my Jellyfin server?
Open xfinn: servers on your local network appear on their own. For a remote server, type its address, for example jellyfin.example.com or 192.168.1.20:8096. Then sign in with your Jellyfin username and password, or with Quick Connect.
How does Quick Connect work?
Choose Quick Connect on the sign-in screen: xfinn shows a six-digit code. On a phone or computer already signed in to Jellyfin, open your profile, then Quick Connect, and enter the code. Quick Connect must be enabled by the server administrator (Dashboard › General).
xfinn doesn’t find my server on the network.
Check that your device and the server are on the same network, and that xfinn has access to the local network: on iPhone and iPad, Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network. Discovery also needs the server’s “Enable auto-discovery” option (Dashboard › Networking). You can always type the address by hand.
Playback buffers or stutters.
The file is probably being transcoded and the server can’t keep up, or the connection is too slow. Lower the quality in the player, or check on the server (Dashboard › Activity) why the file is transcoded. Files your device supports natively play without any conversion.
Why is a file transcoded when my Apple TV can play it?
Apple’s player doesn’t open MKV files, so Jellyfin repackages them on the fly, usually without touching the video. Image-based subtitles (PGS, VobSub) are burned into the picture, which does require full transcoding: pick a text subtitle track (SRT, ASS, WebVTT) when one exists.
HDR or Dolby Vision doesn’t switch on.
On Apple TV, turn on Settings › Video and Audio › Match Content › Match Dynamic Range. xfinn enables HEVC, HDR10, Dolby Vision and AV1 according to what your Apple TV model supports.
Skip intro doesn’t appear.
The button relies on Jellyfin media segments. Your server needs a plugin that detects them, such as Intro Skipper, and the segments must have been analyzed for that show. Auto-skip for intros can be turned on in xfinn’s settings.
Can I use several servers or accounts?
xfinn is signed in to one server at a time. Sign out in the settings to switch: the servers you used recently are listed on the sign-in screen.
Do I need to buy xfinn again for iPhone or Apple TV?
No. xfinn is free, with no in-app purchases, and the same App Store download covers Apple TV, iPhone and iPad.
Where can I report a bug or suggest a feature?
Write to support@xfinn.app, or open an issue on GitHub. For questions about Jellyfin itself, the Jellyfin documentation is the best place to start.
